Welcome, Keith May!!!
Mt. Salus Christian School is pleased to announce the addition of Keith May as an administrator of the school. He will also assume the position of Head Football Coach and Baseball Coach.
Mr. May is a graduate of Clinton High, Mississippi College, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Religious Education. He has served many churches in Clinton as well.
Mr. May previously served Mt. Salus during the 2005-2007 school year. In his career, he has also been a teacher, coach and chaplain at Hillcrest Christian School and Headmaster at Calvary Christian School in Meridian.
The new administrator joins Richard Elam and Lonn Oswalt, both of whom also have done extensive work in school administration. Nearly all the faculty from school year 2009-2010 remains in place, a faculty that has been carefully built over the last several years. According to board president and parent, Sean Milner, “By design, the faculty is the overarching strength of the school, with all of teachers and administrators being persons of outstanding competency in their subject matter areas, as well as subscribing in mind, heart and lifestyle to the Mt. Salus Statement of Faith.”
Also joining the faculty is Scott Hathorn who has a double major in History and Biblical studies and a minor in English. Mr. Hathorn also has a Masters of Education in History, all from William Carey University.
Mr. Oswalt said, “Through the years, Mt. Salus faculty members have been recognized by various groups with “Teacher of the Year” awards. Others have sharpened their teaching skills at Mt. Salus before going on to pursuing doctorate degrees. One faculty member currently is working on a degree from a university in the British Isles. Many have been recognized as having contributed in significant ways to the spiritual development of students, being honored by parents as co-laborers in the vital task of bringing up children in the nurture of the Lord. All are faithful to the school and delighted to participate enthusiastically in its mission.”
By refurbishing the original Mt. Salus gym building, space has been created for the entire school, K-4 through 12 to be housed on the campus between College St. and Fairmont. The entire campus has received fresh interior paint, along with some reconfiguration of walls to maximize space. Mr. Oswalt said, “It is an exciting time to be part of the Mt. Salus family! The school is currently celebrating it 40th anniversary. This vision includes educating young people not only for life and labor and service in the present world, but educating them for eternity as well.” Mr. May said, “I am delighted to be back at Mt. Salus!”
